What you need to do
If you have never had a website there are certain preparations one needs to make, planning in other words. First of all what you need depends on the type of business you have whether it be a hotel, a restaurant, a travel agency or online shop. Take a look at any competitors website to see what they have done. A basic website may have the following pages
- A home page which introduces your business
- An About Us page which gives some history of your business
- A product or service page which describes the service or product you offer
- A pricing page telling of the price of your services or product
- A contact page detailing how people can get hold of you
This would be a minimum layout, there could of course be specialised pages such as a shop page for an online shop or a menu page for a restaurant.
The Content
Once you have the pages you need sorted out you will need to work out the content of each page, a clear description, be careful of spelling errors, images help to clarify what is described in the text.
The Logo
If you already have a logo, you provide us with a high resolution copy. Typically this is used in two locations: As part of the navigation menu and as a favicon, that is the smaller mage that sits inside the TAB at the top of your browser.

These should be of high resolution, they can be of the most common image formats jpg, png we will optimise them for use on your website, if you have the means convert them to the modern format webp. For top heading banners they should be 1200 x 800 pixels, for online shop product images they should be square 800 x 800 pixels.
Getting Connected
To get your site visible on the World Wide Web you will need two things, a domain name and a hosting account, we can help you with both but let's tell you what they are first:
A domain name is your website’s digital address. It is the text that people type into a web browser window to reach your website (for example, thetaware.co.za). In the above example thetaware is the name of our business, if you don't have one already now is the time to think of one ideally it should be connected to your business, if your business is Bob's Burgers, you could have
bobsburgers or
bobs-burgers
You can have just letters or letters with a dash nothing else is permitted there.
Because there are so many websites out there it is possible the name you wanted already exists, which means you wont be able to use it, so create a list of names from the most liked to the least like (about 5), then we will check what is available and advise you or do our best to suggest a suitable alternative.
A website hosting account is a service provided by a hosting company that rents you storage space on a specialized computer called a server. This server stays connected to the internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Once we have all the information we need to build your website we will start to do exactly that, first will be to register the domain, unless you already have one of course, then setup a hosting account, it is also possible if you already have a registered domain you already have a hosting account, then we can just start.
